PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scanner provided with a confocal optical system with which the focus of the confocal optical system is highly accurately adjusted and data of biochemical analysis is generated as desired without a special mechanism.;SOLUTION: The scanner is so composed that the focus positions of the confocal optical systems 19 and 30 are decided on the basis of the signal intensity of fluorescent light or photoluminescence detected with a light detector 33 by varying the position of an objective lens 19 by a prescribed moving pitch, the generated data of focus position are stored, the data of focus position stored in an erasable programmable read-only memory(EPROM) are corrected with a control unit according to the positional data stored in the EPROM, a driving signal is outputted to a stepping motor on the basis of the corrected data of focus position, and the objective lens is moved to adjust the position of the objective lens.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
