PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hand-written signature authentication device that increases the number of parameters to enhance an authentication rate because the number of the parameters used for signature authentication is inevitably decreased resulting in increasing the opportunity of mis-authentication when the number of strokes and stroke amounts of handwriting are small.;SOLUTION: The device has a signature entry area in which a user enters his signature and a storage means that stores reference signature data that are referred at its authentication, the signature entry area is divided into a plurality of areas, to which area of a plurality of the division areas a pen-down position of the entered signature belongs is detected, and using the detected area to which the pen-down position of the entered signature belongs, the entered signature, and the reference signature data stored in the storage means authenticates the entered signature and discriminates whether or not the authentication is successful.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
