Isolated strains of staphylococcus aureus and vaccines against bovine mastitis

Staphylococcus aureus strain BS449, ZO3984 and VLVL8407 are provided. The strains are deposited and registered in the CNM Collection nationale de Cultures de Microorganismes Institut Pasteur under the identification references I-1950, I-1951 and I-1952 respectively. Strain BS449 is â-haemolytic, coagulase positive and phage type 81. Strain Z03984 is â-hemolytic, coagulase positive and phage type 3/A, 3/C, 55 and 71. Strain VLVL8407 is unhemolytic, coagulase positive and phage untypable. The strains may be used in a vaccine against the occurrence of bovine mastitis.
