PURPOSE: An optical cable for transfer capacitance increase and a wavelength division multiplexing optical transmission system using the same are provided to connect plural optical fibers having different dispersion value, dispersion slope, length and effective area in their order, thereby maximizing the transmission capacitance. CONSTITUTION: The device comprises a connection optical fiber(42), which is formed by connecting the first and second optical fibers(43,44) in a connection point(45) with a splicing technique. The first and second optical fibers(43,44) have different characteristics such as the first/second dispersion values(D1,D2), the first/second effective areas(A1,A2), the first/second lengths(l1,l2) and the first/second dispersion slopes(S1,S2). Therefore, the dispersion value, dispersion slope, length and effective area(Dcf,Scf,lcf,Acf) of the connection optical fiber are controlled by those of the optical fibers(43,44).
