- Process of preparing D-glucosamine hydrochlorlde

PURPOSE: Provided is a method for manufacturing a monomer D-glucosamine(2-amino-2-deoxy-beta-D-glucopyranose) which composes chitosan polymer. CONSTITUTION: The manufacturing method comprises the steps of: adding 50-400g of hydrochloric acid to 10g of chitin to decompose it; diluting the resultant compound using water then followed by removing impurities therefrom using activated carbon and distilling it under reduced pressure; purifying and recrystallizing prepared glucosamine by using ion exchange resin column or by using a mixed solution of water and organic solvent; and freeze drying it to obtain high purity glucosamine. Wherein, the concentration of hydrochloric acid is preferably 25-33%; the organic solvent is selected from ethanol, methanol, acetonitrile, acetone, tetrahydrofuran and dioxane; and the volume ratio of organic solvent to water is 10:0.5 to 10:3.
