PURPOSE: A method for searching vibration base damage is provided to improve the accuracy and applicability in damage detection by formalizing deformation energy modules before and after the structural damage as a form of a specific vibration characteristic value occurring in a structure and to accurately detect the damage on the structure moving complicatedly. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises the steps of equalizing the modulus of a vibration mode sensitivity occurring before and after the occurrence of damage on a structure with a vibration characteristic value modulus, calculating a damage position index of i mode and j member by the function of the mode shape of a non-damage structural system, the mode shape of a damage structural system, a vibration characteristic modulus, the stiffness matrix of a non-damage member, and the stiffness matrix of a system(122), deciding the occurrence of damage if the damage position index is larger than 1(130), calculating a damage degree index of the i mode and j member(124), and deciding the occurrence of damage if the damage degree is less than zero(132).
