PURPOSE: A credit card security method and system is provided to register a finger print when the credit card is initially issued, to make the acquisitor input the finger print when the acquisitor makes a payment with the issued credit card in the case that he or she purchases goods or withdraws cash, and to compare the input finger print with the registered one for authenticating the credit card user. CONSTITUTION: The system comprises a plurality of finger print registration terminals(1), a plurality of card reading or cash dispensing terminals(2), a main computer(3), a modem(4), and an emergency report system(5). The finger print registration terminals(1), installed at credit card issue divisions in a bank or a card company and connected to a main server, enables a credit card acquisitor to directly input his or her finger print and transmits the input finger print to the main computer(3). The terminals(2), including a finger print recognition modules, connected to the main computer over the internet, scans the finger print of the credit card user if the user inserts the credit card into a slot and touches his or her thumb, and transmits the scanned data with the informations stored in the inserted credit card to the main computer(3). The main computer(3) stores the personal data of the registered users and credit card related informations including the registered finger print, compares the transmitted data including the finger print with the stored data, and authenticates the user or notifies the emergency report system(5) of an emergency state. The emergency report system(5), installed at public offices near the terminals(2), receives the emergency state data from the main server if the main server determines the user to be illegal, and dispatches a policeman or a person in charge to the terminal.
