PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for measuring a color-texture distance, a method and apparatus for dividing regions of an image using the measured distance are provided to accurately measure the color-texture distance between two points given in a color characteristic space. CONSTITUTION: Significance is given to luminance difference, chromaticity difference and color difference between every two points in a color characteristic space, and each of luminance differences, chromaticity differences and color differences is added up in proportion to the given significance to obtain the color distance between every two points(10). The texture distance between every two points is obtained using a texture characteristic value difference between the two points and weight coefficients given to multiple sizes of texture in a texture characteristic space(12). The color distance is multiplied by a color weight value, the texture distance is multiplied by a texture weight value, and the multiplied results are added up, to calculate the color-texture distance between the two points(14).
