PURPOSE: An instant messaging system and method is provided to enable a plurality of users to receive real time stock price information, and to transmit the stock price information to other users via an instant messenger. CONSTITUTION: The method comprises steps of an information providing user accessing a messenger server(S11, S21, S31), the information providing user checking a list of a data exchange room(S33, S13, S22), the information providing user entering one data exchange room or establishing a new data exchange room(S15, S23), the information providing user selecting an item, making a summarized current trend on the item and specific comments, and transmitting the summarized current trend with a user identifier to a messenger server(S17), the messenger server receiving the summarized current trend information(S35), the server offering the summarized current trend to other users in access to the data exchange room(S36), the messenger server checking transaction recommendation from each user, accessing a profit rate of the user, and offering the profit rate to other users(S37), an information receiving user displaying the summarized current trend information on a stock item via the instant messenger(S24), the information receiving user selecting one item and related investment information(S25, S26), the information receiving user transmitting a transaction order to an investment data providing server and a stock price proving server(S37), the investment data providing server transmitting data on selected items to the information receiving user(S39), and the information providing user selecting a specific user and checking an assessment information on the selected user(S29, S40, S30).
