PURPOSE: To provide a spring return type valve device improved in efficiency of assembling a valve, a spring unit and an actuator, and reduced in influence of heat from the valve of the spring unit. CONSTITUTION: This spring return type operating device is provided with a valve 2 for controlling a fluid flow by changing the opening of a fluid passage by the rotating operation of a valve shaft 22, an actuator 4 having an output shaft 42 rotated by an electric motor, a spring unit 3 having a rotating shaft 32 for receiving turning force from the output shaft 42 at one end and transmitting the turning force to the valve shaft 22 at the other end, and a spring for applying the turning force in one direction to the rotating shaft 32, and a yoke 5 for removably supporting the actuator 4, the spring unit 3 and the valve 2 to have a designated positional relationship.
