SUBSTANCE: invention relates to recombinant plasmid DNA constructed in vitro and containing gene US6 fragment of herpes simplex type-1 virus (HSV-1) that encodes immunodominant moiety of glycoprotein D (gD) of HSV-1 virus from 269 to 392 amino acid residue. Construction provides biosynthesis in bacterium E. coli cells the polypeptide as a fragment of β--galactosidase of E. coli (from 1 to 376 amino acid residue) with polyhistidine (6-His) tract for affinity purification. This polypeptide shows antigenic properties of herpes simplex virus of type-1. Purified recombinant protein can be used as HSV-1 antigen for serological testing HSV-1 in clinical practice.
