The manufacturing method has an extruded profile web (P), obtained by an extrusion process, provided with water fold edge and a roof fold edge along its opposite side edges, with at least one rib (7) projecting from the flat surface (4) of the web on the underside. The rib is removed in the foot region of the roof tile, before bending the foot region downwards after or during the separation of the roof tile, to provide a rounded foot edge (10).
