The positioning device (8) supports the patient (1) in an upright sitting position within a heavy-ion treatment chamber and has a mechanism which holds the tumor (2) in the isocentre (9) of the heavy-ion beam (5), within the degrees of movement of the device. An independent claim for a tumor treatment method in a heavy-ion treatment chamber is also included.
