The playing surface has a sponge underlay (2a) glued to an upper rubber (2b). The glued side of the upper rubber has knobs (4). Adhesive points (3) are formed only between the knobs and the sponge underlay, while the remaining surface of the sponge underlay is free of adhesive. Preferably, the adhesive points are formed with a quick-action adhesive. An Independent claim is included for a method to manufacture a playing surface for a table tennis bat.
