The symmetry circuit has a bypass circuit (3,4) across each storage capacitor (C1,C2), for limiting the charge voltage or the charge voltage gradient by partial diversion of the charging current. The bypass circuit contains a separate voltage-controlled current source (1,2), e.g. a power MOSFET or bipolar transistor, for generating a bypass current, with a digital signal output for indication of a bypass current.
