The seat back has a headrest mounted on a support structure and displaces forwards in the event of a rear end collision by means of inertia force of the seat's occupant acting on the headrest mounting. A locking device fixes the mounting on the structure and has a sensor controlled drive formed by an inertia sensitive pendulum element mounted on the support structure to pivot around a horizontal pivot point, and in a predetermined pivoted position locks in its spatial position a bell-crank lever arrangement which has arms fastened to the structure and to the mounting respectively.
