Method for operating a motor car with a combustion engine in which operating parameters (b, r) are measured over the life time of the car and used to determine corresponding values (B, R) that can then be used to control car operation. The values determined are an acceleration value (B) which is compared with a threshold value (BG) and a value for the rotational velocity (R) of the drive shaft, which is compared with a threshold (RG). The invention also relates to a computer program for operation of a motor vehicle and combustion engine over their lifetime.
