The metal fuel tank is made up of two half-shells with peripheral flanges (3a, 3b). These are fastened together by two peripheral welds (4a, 4b). The flange is cut off through the outer weld, producing a sealed edge. An Independent claim is included for a method for making a fuel tank as described above.
