Process for drawing a single crystal (4) comprises: zone drawing in which a melt (3) produced with an induction coil (2) is subjected to a rotating magnetic field and solidifying; and rotating the single crystal during solidification of the melt. The single crystal and the magnetic field are rotated in opposite directions. Preferred Features: The single crystal is drawn with a diameter of at least of 76.2 mm. The field strength of the magnetic field lies in the region of 0.1-20 mT. The frequency of the magnetic field is 10-1000 Hz. The melt is subjected to a further rotating magnetic field.
