Ultrasound probe (3) with two ultrasound transducers (5, 7) arranged on different sides of an acoustically isolating layer (43). The transducers are acoustically coupled to the surface of a test piece (2), with each transducer formed as a single dimensional array. The sound beams emitted from the transducers are arranged so that they are tilted slightly towards each other so that they have at least one component towards the other transducer. Each transducer is configured as a sound transmitter and receiver.
