Each wheel has a wheel disc with connected wheels rim/rim parts. Wheel disc and rim are manufactured of different materials, with on being of a light metal material, the other of an iron material. The components are connected by friction welding. The wheel disc is a cast component of aluminum, magnesium, or a suitable alloy. The wheel rim is fabricated by forming of steel sheet or band. Alternatively, the wheel disc is a cast iron or cast iron alloy component, esp. of spheroidal graphite iron, and the wheel rim is formed from aluminum and/or magnesium alloy.
