The refuse is fed into collection container located in a treatment room, sacks (15,19) containing the refuse are torn open within the container, any fluid is drained off into a container below, the refuse is compressed in the container, and the container is sealed. The air is extracted from the treatment room during processing of the refuse, and also from the container. The treatment room and esp. the collection container, is sealed esp. air-tight and/or splash-proof to the outside. The container is of flexible material, esp. plastic foil, and is contained in a rigid esp. roll container (1).
