The venting device fitted directly to WC or seat draws foul odor off and at the same time prevents drafts. The suction device (2) is fitted to or in the WC and is joined to a vacuum producer (7) so as to draw foul air out and also emit this to outside air or into the runoff water using a nonreturn valve (11) between suction device (2) and waste (6). The suction device consists of a flexible hose or tube joined to WC or seat and vacuum is produced by a blower or a fan. Vacuum can also be generated by means of a building vent shaft joined to or set at underpressure.
