The method involves a first transmitter/receiver (BS1) maintaining a communications connection to a terminal (MT) using adaptive antennas, a second transmitter/receiver (BS2) carrying out directionally selective evaluation of radio signals transmitted by the terminal, allocating transmission capacities to the terminal based on the evaluation and establishing a communications connection (3) to the terminal using adaptive antennas.
