Data item indicative of region of interest (ROI) in new image is associated with new image to be stored in database, and is compared with data item of type representing visual content characteristic of example image, for calculating similarity between example image and each of stored images. An image is selected from the stored images, based on similarity degree with example image. An Independent claim is also included for digital image indexing method.
