Wind turbine generating electrical energy, uses large bearing for rotor shaft and secures rotor to main turbine bearing to reduce longitudinal movement and allow smaller air gap in generator
The wind generator has a nacelle (3) mounted in rotation at the top of a vertical mast (2). The turbine hub (10) is mounted about an approximately horizontal axis via a large diameter bearing (15). The electric generator (12) has a stator (17) and a disk rotor (16). The rotor is secured by a link (20) on the hub adjacent to the bearing, so that forces exerted by the wind are transmitted to the bearing rather than to the generator.
