A reserve filling signal sensor delivers a reserve filling signal which is converted into a control signal for at least the air supply-, fuel supply- and/or ignition-timing-parameter, when it is at least one protection-factor larger than a main filling signal. The protection factor is selected so that for high throughput, the mixture is changed so as to be richer.
