The aircraft has a GPS satellite receiver (1) which delivers pseudo-speeds as projections along the line connecting each satellite to the receiver. A separate navigation system (2-4) delivers attitude, vertical speed and air speed, and a head-up display (5) is generated from GPS data and flight parameters. Vertical speed is used as a supplementary pseudo-speed relative to the earth's center.
