Method for electronic contract management in which a digital representation of a contract consists of a master file containing a number of computer data objects. The objects include observables that receive an external value as a function of time and primitives suited to combining observables and contract objects to generate a new object. The method involves updating of the objects as a function of internal variables (objects of which the state is to be changed) or external (data acting on the observables) in order to determine the state of a contract at a given time.
