PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and speedily detect whether or not a natural disaster such as an avalanche have occurred and its scale. ;SOLUTION: This avalanche occurrence detecting device is equipped with a shocked body 1, a signal converter 2 which processes a detection signal outputted from a vibration sensor, an arithmetic processing part 3 which decides whether or not an avalanche occurs from the output of the signal converter 2 and decides the scale of the avalanche, a communication processing part 4 which sends the analytic result of the arithmetic processing part 3 by wire or wireless, and an information output part 5 which displays information regarding the avalanche and gives an alarm, etc., by receiving the data sent from the communicating processing part 4. The shocked body 1 is made of a lightweight ball and has vibration sensors inside. Those vibration sensors are different in sensitivities from each another and output pulses, when detecting vibration. The arithmetic processing park 3 decides whether or not an avalanche has occurred and its scale from the kind of a vibration sensor, whose number of pulses exceeds a threshold and for how long a period the threshold is exceeded continuously.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
