PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent operation disorder or economical loss caused by a control defect while reducing human burden by automating the work of control performance evaluation, and controlling a control system again without delay by making a control performance evaluation index into control performance index expressed by a specified formula. ;SOLUTION: A parameter reflected with the control performance of the control system is observed, the control performance evaluation index reflected with a level in the change of this parameter with the passage of time is calculated and the control performance is evaluated from the level of the control performance evaluation index. Concerning this control performance evaluating method for control system, the control performance evaluation index is the control performance index expressed by a formula V. In this case, a formula I in the formula V is the average value of a target value for an arbitrary term, σe is the standard deviation of control deviation, a formula II is the control performance index, a formula III is the average value of a manipulated variable for an arbitrary term, σu is the standard deviation of the manipulated variable, a formula IV is an operability index, -Ce is the reference value of Ce for the arbitrary term and-Cu is the reference value of Cu for the arbitrary term.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
