METHOD TO PREVENT RUST IN ATMOSPHERIC CORROSION- RESISTANT STEEL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method to prevent rust in atmospheric corrosion-resistant steel that can be pigmented with any color, as the rustproof and weathering properties are retained. ;SOLUTION: Atmospheric corrosion-resistant steel from which only loose rust has been removed is coated on the surfaces with a pigment paint that includes (A) an organosilane partially hydrolyzed condensate represented by general formula: R¹_nSi(OR²)_4-n (R¹ is a 1-8C organic group; R² is a 1-6C alkyl group; n is an integer of 0-2), (B) a curing catalyst and (C) a pollution-free rust-proof pigment and forms a coated layer of ≥85% gloss retention 300 hours after radiation with a sunshine weather meter for accelerated weathering test in a thickness of 20-40 μm on the dry basis.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
