PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing a diol compound, particularly 1,3-diols simply, highly selectively, inexpensively and efficiently. ;SOLUTION: The catalyst for manufacturing both terminal diols is used when both terminal diols are manufactured by the hydrocracking of an epoxy alcohol compound.
