The invention relates to lipid-based pharmaceutical or cosmetic compositions for use in the treatment prevention or alleviation of diseases or conditions in skin or mucous membranes of mammals that are associated with or resulting from increased levels of extracellular phospholipase A₂ (PLA₂) activity in the tissue.
