A method for treating obesity in a mammal or for reducing the absorption of dietary fat in a mammal by orally administering to the mammal an effective amount of one or more fat-binding polymers in combination with one or more lipase inhibitors, where the fat-binding polymers and the lipase inhibitor are separate compounds. The above-described fat-binding polymer/lipase inhibitor combinations are useful for treating hypertriglyceridemia. The above-described fat-binding polymer is useful for treating steatorrhea.
