A pharmaceutical composition in a once-daily tablet or capsule form comprising ciprofloxacin, 0.2% to 0.5% sodium alginate, 1.0 % to 2.0% xanthan gum, 10% to 25% sodium bicarbonate, 5.0% to 20% cross-linked polyvinylpyrrolidone, where the percentages are w/w of the composition and the weight ratio of sodium alginate to xanthan gum is between 1:1 and 1:2.
