A METHOD OF MANUFACTURING MATERIAL FOR STRUCTURAL ZIRCONIUM-CONTAINING CORUNDUM CERAMICS WITH ADDITION OF ZIRCONIUM DIOXIDE

A method of manufacturing material for structural zirconium-containing corundum ceramics involves preparation of the suspension of alumina-containing component and zirconium-containing component, drying the suspension and annealing. The suspension isprepared by means of saturation of dry powder of alumina with aqueous solution of zirconium salt, the prepared suspension is dried and subjected to thermal treatment at the temperature of 1450-1550 °C, and the obtained material after cooling is reduced to size of particles less than 3 MU m. Zirconium oxychloride is used as waterû soluble zirconium salt.
