A method for use with spin echo signals received from a sample comprises summing indications of the amplitudes of the spin echo signals and using the results to determine an indication of the permeability of the sample without using a distribution of the relaxation times in the determination. An independent claim describes an apparatus that comprises: (a) At least one antenna that receives spin echoes from the sample. (b) A processor. (c) A program stored in a memory that performs the method as described above.
