SINGLE HORIZONTAL WELL CONDUCTION ASSISTED STEAM DRIVE PROCESS FOR REMOVING VISCOUS HYDROCARBONACEOUS FLUIDS

A conduction assisted steam flooding process isdescribed where heavy oil is recovered from reservoirswith limited native injectivity and a high watersaturated bottom zone. A horizontal well is placedabove the water saturated zone. This well isperforated on its top side at selected intervals. Anuninsulated tubing having a circumference smaller thanthe well is inserted therein to its furthest endthereby making a first and second conduit. Steam isinjected into the second conduit and formation fluidsare removed by the first conduit or tubing until steamcommunication is established between the two intervals.Once steam communication is established between theintervals, steam injection is ceased and a thermalpacker is placed around the tubing so as to form twoseparated, spaced-apart, perforated intervals.Thereafter, steam is injected into the reservoir viaone interval and hydrocarbonaceous fluids are removedat the other interval.
