DRYWALL-TRIMMING STRIP FOR TRIMMING ARCHWAY

For trimming an archway, a drywall-trimming has a nose with an outer surfaceandan inner surface. The outer surface has a curved portion conformingsubstantially to anarcuate profile with a radius in a range from approximately 1/4 inch toapproximately 3/4inch. The drywall-trimming strip has a series of slits defining a series oftabs spacedfrom one another along a tabbed edge but not extending into the nose. Near thetabbededge, the slits have widened, oblong portions. Usually, the drywall-trimmingstrip has aflange extending from and along an opposite edge, but the flange is omittedfor someapplications. A comparatively softer portion, which includes the juncturewhere the tabsare joined to the tabbed edge, is made from a comparatively softer, moreflexible,polymeric material, such as polyvinyl chloride having a hardness of Durometer92 ShoreA. A comparatively harder portion, which includes the flange and at least asubstantialportion of the nose along the flanged edge, is made from a comparativelyharder, lessflexible, polymeric material, such as polyvinyl chloride having a hardness ofDurometerShore 82 D. In one contemplated embodiment, the comparatively harder portionincludesat least substantially all of the nose, except for the juncture where the tabsare joined tothe tabbed edge of the nose. In another contemplated embodiment, each of thecomparatively harder and comparatively softer portions includes asubstantially equalportion of the nose. The comparatively softer portion may include the entiretabs orsubstantially all of the tabs are made from the comparatively harder materialexcept forthe juncture where the tabs are joined to the tabbed edge of the nose. Becausethecomparatively softer portion includes the juncture where the tabs are joinedto the tabbededge of the nose, the outer surface of the nose of the drywall-trimming striptends tocontinue to conform substantially to an arcuate profile, even after thedrywall-trimmingstrip has been curved so as to conform to an archway.
