ANTISENSE RNA EXPRESSION STRATEGIES EFFECTIVE AGAINST iSTREPTOCOCCUS THERMOPHILUS/i BACTERIOPHAGE

Recombinant bacteria containing nucleotide sequences encoding iStreptococcus thermophilus/i phage helicase and primase genes expressed in the antisense orientation and methods of making and using the same are disclosed. Replication of bacteriophage infecting this bacterial cell, can be inhibited or decreased by constitutively expressing, the antisense oligonucleotide encoding for iS. thermophilus/i phage helicase or primase.
