PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for processing signals using a generalized on-off algorithm in an array antenna system are provided to increase the capacity of channel and improve the communication quality by providing an optimized beam pattern to increase an SNR(Signal-to-Noise Ratio) and to decrease a BER(Bit Error Rate). CONSTITUTION: A processing unit(110) has a linear array antenna structure in which N number of antennas are arranged with a uniform interval and spaced in a half-wavelength away to each other. The processing unit(110) performs a low-band pass filtering and a demodulation on signals received from the antennas. An inverse spreading unit(130) performs an inverse spreading on the signals from the processing unit(110) to output the inverse-spread signals. A signal processing unit(150) performs a generalized on-off algorithm to output an optimized weight vector. A weighting processing unit(160) adds the optimized weight vector to the inverse-spread signals output from the inverse spreading unit(130).
