IXP1200 Network Processor Transparent PCI to PCI Bridge The Application of the Transparent PCI to PCI Bridge in the Gigabit Fire-Wall System with Intel IXP1200 Network Processor

PURPOSE: A method for applying a transparent PCI(Peripheral Component Interconnect)-to-PCI bridge to a gigabit fire-wall system designed by using an Intel IXP1200 network processor is provided to form the gigabit network fire-wall system with the Intel IXP1200 network processor by using a characteristic of the transparent PCI-to-PCI bridge. CONSTITUTION: A primary bus of the 21150 transparent PCI-PCI bridge is controlled by using an internal PCI arbiter of the IXP1200 network processor. Thus, a PCI interface of the IXP1200 is connected to the primary bus of the 21150 transparent, and respective PCI devices connected to the secondary bus of the PCI bridge is controlled by using the internal arbiter in the PCI bridge.
