PURPOSE: An agent for treating diabetes containing an extract of Chinese medicinal materials such as Rhizoma Coptidis, ginseng, Rhizoma Anemarrhenae, red sage, Cortex Lycii Radicis as an effective component is provided, which can be used in treating diabetes, especially Type-II diabetes, eliminating melituria and restoring pancreatic island function. CONSTITUTION: The composite preparation is prepared by extracting 600 to 900 parts by weight of Rhizoma Coptidis, 450 to 750 parts by weight of ginseng, R800 to 1,200 parts by weight of Astragali radix, 450 to 550 parts by weight of Scrophulariae Radix, 550 to 750 parts by weight of Rhizoma Anemarrhenae, 780 to 1,420 parts by weight of Phellodendri Cortex, 450 to 550 parts by weight of Atractylodis Rhizoma, 550 to 750 parts by weight of red sage, 450 to 550 parts by weight of Polygonum cuspidatum and 550 to 750 parts by weight of Lycii Radicis Cortex.
