A filter insert (1) comprises a fan-folded panel bent into tubular form and held between ring-shaped end-caps (2). The ring-shaped end-cap has a circular inner cut-out terminating in a knuckle slip-seal (4) collar (3). The collar is separated from the insert by a supporting ring (6) whose depth is limited to a depth which ensures correct positioning of the collar. The collar is positioned within a radial ring shaped detent on the filter end. The collar is secured against accidental loss prior to presentation of the end-disc (2) by presentation to the insert (1) outer face. The insert top and bottom ends have a beveled profile formed by embossed folded lines.
