A method for separating liquids or condensed gases (I) comprises using an ionic liquid (II) as entrainer, causing a change in the separation factor between the liquid components to a value other than 1 so that the total concentration of ionic liquid in the liquid phase is 5-90 mol%, preferably 10-70 mol%. An Independent claim is included for products separated by this method.
