Navigation system for a vehicle, especially a motor vehicle, aircraft or ship whereby the navigation system incorporates means for determining the time shift relative to GMT, so that any location and time dependent blockages of a point on the route can be accurately highlighted to a system user who is planning or using a route. The invention also relates to a corresponding navigation system and use of a database unit with a table containing elements and corresponding time zones.
