The child seat (4) has a rear locking element extending between seat pad and backrest and locked on a body-mounted bearing bracket. The seat pad (2) has a support unit (10) below the mounted child seat, with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or electric operation. The support unit has at least one extendable prop (12), integrated in the seat pad, which engages at least partially into corresponding hollow spaces (13) in the pad, when the support unit is activated. Alternatively, it has an inflateable cushion. The support unit is activated via a sensor (11), when the child seat is fitted, or during a crash.
