Two pick-up units (4,5) are carried by a base block (3) mounted on a transport arm (8). One end (4a,5a) of each pick-up unit comes into contact with a cover slip (2) and is pointed away from the notional center axis (3a) of the base block. Both pick-up units remove the cover slip from a magazine (24), and deposit the removed cover slip onto a specimen slide (9). An Independent claim is also included for a cover slip removing and placing method.
