The energy plant has a tower (2) assembled from a number of cylindrical pipe sections coupled together via pipe flange screw connections, supporting a gondola (3) carrying a rotor (5), used for driving a generator, with pivoting of the gondola about a vertical pivot axis (4). The pipe sections at the base of the tower are made of cast iron, those at the top made of steel.
